Technology Should Serve Students, Not Replace Human Connection

Artificial intelligence will change education. Pretending otherwise isn't a strategy. But adopting every new technology simply because it exists isn't a strategy either.

CPS should approach AI from the perspective of students, families, and educators — not technology vendors.

Technology should help teachers teach, help students learn, reduce unnecessary administrative work, and expand opportunity.

It should not replace educators, compromise student privacy, eliminate meaningful human interaction, or become another way for students with more resources to get further ahead.

I will push for clear CPS standards governing artificial intelligence and emerging technology, including strong student-data protections, transparency about tools used in classrooms, educator involvement in adoption decisions, age-appropriate guidelines, and training that prepares students to use AI responsibly.

Our children should graduate prepared for the world they are entering — while still learning how to be critical thinkers, write, question, create, collaborate, and solve problems for themselves.
